Lewis Parrish was born 2 Dec 1785 to Cyprian Parrish and his wife Phoebe Tyler Parrish. The location of his birth is not known definitively, but due to the timing of his father's places of residence, it was likely Fredericksburg, Dutchess county, NY (now known as Kent / Carmel, Putnam county, NY) or possibly near the Delaware Water Gap area of Hancock, NY (now Delaware county) or Middletown, Ulster county NY (now Middletown, Orange county, NY). Based upon census records, it appears that Lewis grew up in the Delaware Water Gap area until his father relocated the family to Ontario county, NY around 1807.

At Gorham, Ontario, NY on 18 Mar 1810 Lewis married Eda Gaylord, the daughter of Chauncey Gaylord and Hannah Carney Gaylord.

Lewis served in the War of 1812 with Warren's Regiment of the NY Militia and fought at the Battle of Lundy's Lane. Following the war, Lewis, Eda and their family, along with Lewis' brother, John Parrish, and their father Cyprian Parrish, moved to Hamburg, NY about 1813, later to Avon, NY in 1823, and were residing in Lake county, OH by 1840. Lewis received bounty lands in MI, but by 1860, Lewis Parrish and family were living in Leroy, Dodge county, WI.

Lewis died on 18 Jun 1873 at Oakfield Center, Fon du Lac county, WI.

Lewis and Eda Parrish had the following children:
1. Chauncey Parrish
2. Phoeba Parrish
3. Perry Parrish
4. Philander Parrish
5. Alvina Parrish
6. Almirah Parrish
7. Sylvester D. Parrish
8. Laura Parrish
9. Mary Eliza Parrish
10.Elizabeth Lucinda Parrish
11.Emma Parrish
12.Serepta Parrish
13.Jane Martha Parrish
14.Sarah Parrish

Today, the descendants of Lewis Parrish are grateful for the family photographs and letters so carefully collected in the late 1890s and early 1900s by Lewis Parrish's great-nephew, Elliott L. Parrish.
