Obituary:

Ethel Elizabeth Bennett

On Sunday, February 15, 2009, our sweet beloved mother, Ethel Bennett, completed her journey here on earth and went to her final home to be with Jesus and all of her loved ones whom she had been longing to see. What a wonderful journey she has had in this life! She has loved and was loved by so many people. We will miss her so very much because she was the best of all things to us. Mrs. Bennett was born in Atco and lived in Acworth for most of her life. She was a home maker, but also worked on the family farm, growing cotton and raising chickens. Today, the family farm is known as Bennettville and Mrs. Bennett was called the Mayor of Bennettville, a small community all her own, comprised of her children and grandchildren. This has been referred to as "An American Mother's Dream", to have her children so close to her. What more could a mother want than now, having her family join her in her final home in Heaven? This is what she prayed for each night as she called each of her children by name, as well as many others. Mrs. Bennett was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Bartow County for 70 years. Her faith in her Lord was also demonstrated strongly in her everyday life outside the church. She was a strong woman of faith during both good and bad times and always encouraged everyone and set a good example. Words can not express all that she was as wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her smile was ever present and always gave one a "lift". Her home going is truly earth's loss and Heaven's gain and we will forever love and appreciate our mother. We were honored to call her Mama and we rise up and call her blessed--Prov. 31:28.

Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Bennett, sons, Earl Bennett and Calvin Bennett, and daughter, Velma Rampley.

She is survived by her daughters, Joy Camp, Noreen Brown, Susan Merrill, and Murl Boehlke, all of Acworth; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Wednesday afternoon in the New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Atkins officiating.

Burial will follow in the Rolling Hills Memory Gardens.
