MRS. MAE BUNTIN SINGLETARY
Mrs. Mae K. Buntin Singletary, 92, a resident of Wesley Manor Retirement Home, died there last night.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 pm in the Ashford United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roy Gamblin officiating. Burial will follow in Ashford City Cemetery with Ward-Wilson Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the funeral home until one hour prior to services when it will be placed in the church. The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Ashford Methodist Church or Wesley Manor.
Mrs. Singletary was born and reared in Houston County and lived most of her life in the Ashford Community. She was a member of the Ashford Methodist Church. She was president of the first Women's Missionary Society organized in 1912 at the church. The society was later divided into four circles and one was named for Mrs. Singletary. She remained devoted to the circle until she became ill in 1975.
Survivors include one son, Joseph S. Buntin, Durham, NC; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Beatty, Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Ruth Henely of Georgia; one brother, Curtis Kirkland, Jacksonville, Fla.
