INJURIES FATAL FOR JOHN COXON
John Coxon passed away Saturday in Wesley hospital, Wichita, from injuries received in an accident November 26. A conductor, he was caught between a tractor being used to move box cars on a siding and a building in the McPherson yards.
Obituary
John Coxon, a son of Joseph and Catherine Coxon was born January 4, 1901 in Peabody, Kansas. When John was still quite young the family moved to Little River. He attended school and grew to manhood here.
He was united in marriage to Esther Stine January 3, 1923. To this union two children were born, one son, Curtis and a daughter, Crysta Jean.
Mr. Coxon has been an employee of the Santa Fe Railroad since 1923. Last November he was victimized by an accident from which he never recovered. He has been in the hospital since the 26th of November. Death came to set him free, Saturday night, March 4.
John was a good man, a good citizen, a good family man. He was a member of the Congregational Church in Little River, a member of the Benevolent Order of Eagles and the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.
Surviving him are his wife, Esther and his two children, Curtis of Lubbock, Texas and Mrs. Marlin (Crysta) Christman of Praet; a sister, Mrs. Fay Mott of Marion; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted in the Little River Congregational Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday by the pastor, Rev. Charles DuMond. Burial was in Bean cemetery.
