LYONS - Crysta Jean Chandler, 79, died Nov. 28, 2012, at Rice County District Hospital, Lyons. She was born Sept. 29, 1934, in Little River, daughter of John and Esther Stine Coxon.
A Lyons resident since 1992, she was retired from Hearst Castle of San Simeon Calif., as assistant to the Registrar; worked as cashier and operations manager for Paine Webber in Wichita; and was a Certified Nurse Aide at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River. She graduated from Little River High School in 1952 and attended the University of Kansas. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lyons and was active in her church and volunteered for Hospice and Church Women's Thrift Shop in Lyons.
She married R. Marlen Christmann April 8, 1953, in Topeka. They later divorced. She married Alfred Arthur Chandler March 17, 1981, San San Luis Obispo, Calif. He died Oct. 4, 2012. Survivors include: daughter, Melissa and Al Williams of Pearland, Texas; stepdaughters, Deanna Chandler, Sara Chandler, both of Las Vegas, Nev., Gretchen Chandler of Lyons, Andrea Chandler of Great Bend; stepson, William Chandler III of Fullerton, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Mark Christmann and Marshall E. Christmann II; and brother, Curtis D. Coxon.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lyons, with Father Charles Kerschen officiating. Burial in Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
