Born by about 1601, based on estimated date of marriage. Yeoman from Woolverstone, Suffolk, whop came to Massachusetts Bay in 1635. First settled in Watertown; moved to Dedham in 1638. Died in Dedham MA, 24 Jan 1660/1.

Married (1) by 1626, Hannah ____. She died at Dedham, 5 Sep 1656.

(2) in Dedham MA, 20 Jan 1657[/8?], Elizabeth (____) (Thaxter) Ripley, widow of THOMAS THATCHER{1638, Hingham} & of WILLIAM RIPLEY {1638, Hingham} (she married as "the widow Thaxter" at Hingham, 29 Sep 1654, William Ripley. She died at Dedham, 17 Jul 1660.

Brother of TIMOTHY DWIGHT, who appeared in Dedham records by 28 Aug 1638, when he received a plot of land at the edge of his brother's land.

In Woolverstone, John Dwight lived alongside Rev. TIMOTHY DALTON & RICHARD EVERED, with whom he is seen in Dedham a decade later.

He came to America about 1635 with other followers of Rev. John Rogers of Dedham. He settled first in Watertown, and then moved to Dedham in 1638. He was admitted to church membership on 24 April 1638, and was one of the founders of the First Church of Christ at Dedham in 1638. He was a selectman and a surveyor in Dedham. John Dwight, son of William Dwight by his first wife Alice Vunter was bp Woolverstone 6 Feb 1598
