George W Manhart was the first of 4 children born to Jacob H & Nellie B Manhart. George was 6 yrs old when he appeared on the 1900 census with his brother Charles W (Feb 1895), Henry E (Feb 1897) and his sister Maud E (March 1898).

According to George's World War I Draft card, he was a Bell Boy and worked for the CECIL HOTEL. At the time of his enlistment, George was not married.

George was killed in action while in France. He was in Company B - 2nd Engineers. He died at the age of 26 years old.
