In a letter dated Oct. 14, 1927 from Sally's granddaughter Margaret (Joy) Dickerson to her cousin Herbert Day Dean in which she was transcribing a family Bible, Maggie says: "Grandfather Bennett Joy was married to Sally Wood Nov. 13th 1823. Sally Wood was born June 21-1803. died Sept 25-1848"

Sally gave birth to her 11th child on September 24, 1848 and died within 24 hours. She was 45 years old.
