Howard R. Earnest, 94, of Rush County, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008.

Born June 18, 1913 in Shelby County, he was the son of Roland and Bessie (Nelson) Earnest, both deceased. He married Helen M. Addison Aug. 19, 1934; she survives.

Mr. Earnest lived in the Arlington community most of his life. A retired Rush County farmer, he had worked as manager of Rush County Farm Bureau Co-Op. He was a 1931 graduate of Arlington High School and attended Purdue University for two years, where he sang in the Glee Club. He attended Arlington Christian Church and was a member of Phoenix Lodge No. 62 F.&A.M and the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite.

Survivors in addition to his wife include sons, H. Richard (Claudia) Earnest of Campbellsburg, Ky., Allen Chad (Alisa) Earnest of Ocean Springs, Miss. and Marvin Keith (Jill) Earnest of Westminster, S.C.; daughter, Wanda Arlene Cross of Clemson, S.C.; brother, Robert (Katie) Earnest of Rushville; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Kathryn Swain, and one brother, Dallas Earnest.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Arlington Christian Church with Bro. Bob Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Moster Mortuary in Rushville, with a Masonic service at 5 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Arlington Christian Church.

Howard R. Earnest, 94, of Rushville died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Ashford Place Health Campus.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with Masonic services at 5 p.m., at Moster Mortuary, 334 N. Main St. in Rushville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Arlington Christian Church in Arlington.

Burial will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington.
