Son of Abijah and Isabella Taylor Akin.(Surname: Akin/Akins/Aiken sp. changed by family). Siblings: Cicero Tipton, Abijah Orlando, Mary Ann, Louisa Caroline, Margaret Tennessee, Minerva Isabel, David Henry and Frank Russell.

Married Jennie Foreman 12-22-1881. Children born to this union were: Ellis A., Watie T., Modie(Hamblin),Wm.O.,Thos Frank, Mabel T.(Williams), Jennie L.(Fickel), and Maggie B.(Lawrence).

During his life he served as the Police Sergeant of the U.S. Indian Police Service, Union Agency, Muskogee, I.T., from 1896 to 1901; Sheriff of Goingsnake District, Cherokee Nation, in 1884, and also serving as a member of the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council for many years.
