Tarleton G. Higgerson was the fourth of six children born to Samuel and Mary "Polly" Richardson Higgerson.
He married Rebecca Stoker on May 23, 1844 in Randolph County, Illinois. They had eight children together.
The Illinois Public Domain Land Tract Database shows a "YARLTON HIGGASON" as having purchased 160 acres of land on December 24, 1849. He purchased additional land in Randolph County on Sept. 7, 1850. By the 1860 Census he had real estate valued at $1200.
He died before March 1869 in Randolph County, Illinois.
