Luther Adams Passes

Luther Adams, 60, died Wednesday night at his farm home at Red Star. Mr. Adams passed away after several months of illness, preceded by earlier failing health.

He was reared in Brookhaven, attended the city schools and spent virtually his whole life in the city, Lincoln and Jefferson Counties.

His church membership was in the First Methodist Church.

Old friends recall with pleasure the agreeable personality and sense of humor which were among his outstanding characteristics.

He and his family and kindred were mutually strongly attached.

A funeral service for Mr. Adams took place at 11 A. M. Friday at New Hope Church, the Rev. James Allgood officiating. Burial was made in the New Hope Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Maude Hammell Adams; sons, Robert Oscar Adams, New Orleans; Sherman Adams in the Medical Corps of the Army overseas, and Austin Adams, Triumph, La; daughters, Mrs. Elsie Freeman, Triumph; Mrs. Helen Quin, Vicksburg; Mrs. Doris Britt, Red Star; and Miss Virginia Adams, her parent's companion, at Red Star. Two brothers, O. E. Adams, Brookhaven, and Hoover Adams, High Island, Tex., are other survivors.

Sympathy is extended them in their sorrow.
