Cherokee Daily Times - Monday , October 19th, 1959 - Joseph H. Ament 89, who lived at 731 West Willow in Cherokee, died at his home Sunday evening, Oct 18 after a lingering illness. He had been a resident of this county and community for a period of 52 years where he had been engaged in farming and carpentering.
Survivors are 2 daughters: Mrs Emma Reinert of Cherokee and Sister Mary Geraldine of Detroit, MI; and 6 sons: William of Marcus, Joe P of Providence, RI, Alphonse, Emil, Alfred, and Ralph all of Cherokee. One brother Chris Sr of Dubuque, 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret in 1946 and a daughter Bertha in infancy.
Funeral services will be at 9 Wednesday, Oct 21. Burial will be in Mt Calvary Cemetery Cherokee.
