Harley Miller Services Set (Stillwater News Press)
Harley E. Miller, former head heardsman for the OSU Dairy Barn, died Monday, May 2, 1983, in Stillwater Medical Center. He was 76.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Perkins First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dale Gowdy officiating. Interment, under the direction of the Strode Funeral Home, will be in Kansas Cemetery, Piedmont, OK.
He was born Sept. 1, 1906, in Piedmont, the son of Clarence and Julia Miller. He lived in the Piedmont area after his Jan. 13, 1936, marriage to Helen Elizabeth Dickerson. The couple came to Stillwater in 1947, where he worked at the Dairy Barn until his retirement in 1973. He worked for Stillwater Public Schools until 1981. He lived at Rt. 4 Stillwater.
He was a member and deacon at Perkins First Baptist Church and formerly a deacon at Southside Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, Oct. 3, 1979.
Surviving are three sons and two daughters: Harley Miller, Cashion; O.D. Miller, Stillwater; Jack Miller, Stillwater; Mrs Gerald (Sara Ann) Payne, Guthrie; and Mrs. Peter L. (Bonita) Petty, Little Rock, Ark.
Other survivors include four brothers and two sisters: Carl Miller, St. Paul, Minn; Clarence Miller, Bethany; Leslie Miller, El Reno; Wayne Miller, Edmond; Mrs. Edwin (Frances) Schein, Kingston; and Mrs. Wesley (Eileen) Bell, El Reno.
He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
