Belle Fourche -- Valentine P. Steinbach, 70, Belle Fourche, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Belle Fourche Long Term Care Center following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Belle Fourche. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Valentine Paul Steinbach was born Nov. 25, 1933, at Sterling, Colo., to Michael and Katherine (Kramer) Steinbach.

He grew up in Colorado, worked in manufacturing, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war and later was a truck driver. He moved to Belle Fourche in 1994.

In June 1995, he married Teresa Gilbert Pace. He was a member of the Newell V.F.W. and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Belle Fourche.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa, Belle Fourche; a son, Jim Steinbach, Texas; two granddaughters; a stepdaughter, Kristen Pace, Belle Fourche; a brother, Mike Steinbach; two sisters, Catherine Reidel and Mary Reidel, all of the Denver area; and his father-in-law, Robert Gilbert, Newell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Arrangements are with Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.
