She attended grade school at District 45 Washington Prairie School which was located on the corner of her parents' farm. In order to attend high school, she commuted from home, sometimes in a Model T Ford with dual wheels because the bus did not go so far away from town. During bad weather, she occasionally stayed with her uncle Adolph Anderson, the local Ford Dealer.
To obtain a teaching certificate, she attended school at Duluth and later taught at Green Lake School where she met Ted Noreen. They were married June 17, 1939, at Zion Lutheran Church and began farming on the Noren/Noreen family farm located near the south end of Green Lake.
From the time she was a little child, the Anderson family called her Dolly, but this did carry through with the Noreens-who had a horse by that name. Louraine was a wonderful farm wife. She cared for a large flock of chickens, helped with the milking and sometimes milked all forty cows when field work occupied Ted's time. In addition, she had a large garden, kept the yard full of flowers, and was a terrific cook.
In 1960 they sold the farm and spent the winter traveling throughout the United States. That spring they returned to Chisago City and built a new house on Johnson Street. Louraine began her second career by commuting to St. Cloud from Chisago City every day to update her teaching certificate, and taught elementary grades in Lindstrom and Chisago Lakes School District for many years. She retired from this career in 1979.
Always an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, she also became an accomplished artist creating many oil paintings. She and Ted visited Sweden several times. They sold the Johnson Street house in 2006 and then became residents of Parmly.
Louraine is preceded in death by her husband of 69 1/2 years, Ted Noreen, parents, Hugo and Amanda Anderson, siblings, Ethel (Tony) Lovo, Evelyn (Helmer) Stone, Doris (Filmore) Lindberg, Edwin (Ann) Anderson, Morris Anderson, brother-in-laws Lott Jackson and Harold Wilcox.Louraine is survived by two sisters Lulu Jackson, Gloria Wilcox, one brother, Gerald (Carol) Anderson, sister-in-law Helen Anderson, cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
She will be sadly missed by her family and many others who were touched by her life.
