Services for Luther Roy Adams, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at First Baptist Church in Brookhaven. A private burial will be held. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Adams, 88, died June 12, 2007, at King's Daughters Medical Center. He was born on Feb. 12, 1919, to Oscar Easterling Adams and Faye Hardy Hoskins Adams.

Retired from the military, he served in the United States Navy in the Atlantic, Pacific and South China theaters from June 1941 until November 1945. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea from December 1951 until October 1953. He was a veteran of Foreign Wars, National Guard Association and a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 241. He was a member of the Army National Guard from 1954 until 1979, when he retired. He attended Whitworth College. He had been a devoted member of First Baptist Church since 1949. His interests later in life included being an avid gardener, and a devoted supporter of the Military Memorial Museum in Brookhaven. He was a delightful friend to many people.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his six brothers and two sisters.

Survivors are his wife, Carrie Ola Britt Adams, of Brookhaven; his daughter, Laila Adams Eckels, of Memphis, Tenn.; his granddaughter, Amanda Adams Eckels Goetze, of Memphis; and his great-grandson, Albert Harrison Goetze, of Memphis.
