Fred W. Wachter, a well known resident here for nearly forty years, passed away oct. 9, at St. Lukes hospital, following a short illness.
Mr. Wachter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wachter, was born March 15, 1875, in Norfolk, Neb., being 74 years of age at the time of his death. He grew to manhood at Norfolk, moving to Douglas county, Minn., in 1910, where he made his home since.
On oct. 20, 1910, in Alexandria he was married to Anna Fiebranz, who survives him.
Mr. Wachter was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran church at Norfolk. He transferred to Zion Lutheran church in Alexandria when he moved here. He was financial secretary and trustee for the church here, was very active in the Men's club and also served on the church school board.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Milford of Alexandria, and three daughters, Mrs. Ray Rediehs (Frances) and Mrs. Gladys Engfer, both of this city, and Mrs. Myron Borschet (Delores) of Erie, Pa., seven grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Henry Raasch and Mrs. Martha Brummond of Norfolk, Neb. Four brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Oct. 13 at the Zion Lutheran church, with Rev. A. C. Seltz officiating. The pallbearers were Reinhold Roth, Wm. Roth, Henry Toensing, A. P. Pfeiffer, Andrew Seeger and Andrew Hauglie. Interment was in Kinkead cemetery.
