After the death of his father, Charles' mother remarried to T.J.K. Hurd in 1889. After his death, Mary remarried a 3rd and last time to John Houston Walker in 1892.
The WWI Draft Registration Card, headstone & death certificate for Charles incorrectly show his birth year in 1881. His parents did not marry until Feb. 26, 1882 and Charles was born on Dec. 11, 1882 later that year. He may have just lied about his age when he registered for the draft. The 1900 Missouri Census, Newton Co., Granby shows Charles living with his mother and half-siblings. His birth is shown as Dec 1882 in Arkansas.
Charles married Hattie N. Buckner on April 17, 1910 in Carthage, Jasper Co., Missouri.
