WARREN, John H. Jr. 73, of Springfield, died Wednesday afternoon, May 13, 2009 in Springfield Regional Medical Center, East High Campus following a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Springfield on April 16, 1936 the son of John Henry and Myrtice (Oliver) Warren. He served his country in the U. S. Army having been stationed in Germany. He worked as an accountant for Monte Zinn Chevrolet for several years and previously worked as an operations manager for The Champion Company and as a machinist at Cooper Energy Services. John was a member of the Clark County Historical Society, Springfield Preservation Alliance, TK Democratic Club where he served as their treasurer for three years, Clark County Genealogical Society, and the Springfield Management Association. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Community Beautification Committee Adopt-a-Bed, and served as a docent at the Heritage Center. John enjoyed motorcycling, golf, barbershop singing, and singing with the Spryliters. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Virginia S. (Ward); son and daughter-in-law, John and Jeanmarie Warren of Raleigh, North Carolina; a daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Jim Wildman of Galloway, OH; step-sons, Brian White and Randy (Dixie) White, all of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Savie and Ryan Warren, Daniel and Rebecca White, and Adam, Anna, Stephen, Faith, and Rachel Wildman; and a great grandson, Brayden Wildman. Also surviving is a sister, Marie Connolly of Springfield; a brother, Alton M. (Janet) Warren of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Alice V. Swisshelm on May 11 of this year. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Robert Scott officiating.
