SWISSHELM, Alice V. 82, of Springfield, went home to be with the Lord, Monday morning, May 11, 2009 after several months of failing health. She was born in Castleberry, Alabama on August 4, 1926 the daughter of John Henry and Myrtice (Oliver) Warren. Alice retired from Meek's Sporting Goods after 48 years of service. While working at Meek's, she was known as "The Trophy Lady". She owned and operated, along with her husband, Bob, E.M.K. Lettering for many years. An avid bowler, she was a life member of the SDWBA where she was a member of their Hall of Fame and a Permanent Member of USBC. She was a life-long and active member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Red Star Lodge. Alice is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, Robert P. Swisshelm; three children, Sandy Waugh and Judy Rush of Springfield and John Swisshelm of Louisville, Kentucky; a sister, Marie Connolly of Springfield; two brothers, John H. (Virginia) Warren Jr. of Springfield and Alton F. (Janet) Warren of Florida; three grandchildren, Michael A. Guisinger, Elizabeth M. Guisinger and Kimberly Angell; four great grandchildren, Tyra L. May, Jodici E. Deel, Benjamin M. Guisinger, and Miranda G. Guisinger; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and several aunts and uncles. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Robert Scott officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 1401 W. Main St., Springfield, Ohio 45504.
