Mr. Cubberley, who lived at 133 Morris Ave., died Tuesday in Monmouth Medical Center.
Born here, he was the son of the late Albert and Emma Wright Cubberley. He opened an architect's office here in 1896 and later expanded his practice to Lakewood and New York City.
During World War I, he was an assistant architect and chief inspector for a Bristol, Pa., shipyard. He later assisted in the design and erection of the Guaranty Trust Building and the New York Times Building, both in New York. He also supervised construction of the Bordentown Reformatory and five buildings at Marlboro Hospital, as well as numerous other projects.
Mr. Cubberley was a member of the Long Branch Rotary Club, the Long Branch Lodge of Masons and St. Luke's Methodist Church, here. An ardent golfer, he was a member and former champion of the New Smyrna Golf Club in Florida and was a member of the former Elkwood Golf Club, Oceanport; Old Orchard Golf and Country Club, Eatontown, and the West Palm Beach Golf Club, Florida.
He Is survived by his widow, Mrs. Florence Cubberley. The couple celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary Saturday.
