The mother of sixteen children, fifteen of whom are living, Mrs. Jennie Elizabeth Scudder, wife of John Scudder, of 14 Haymond Street, died at the Major hospital at 1:20 o'clock this morning following four days serious illness due to bronchial pneumonia. She had been in fast failing health for the past five months, suffering from goitre, and was taken to the hospital Tuesday evening.

Funeral services will be held at the Star Baptist church in Decatur county, of which she was a member, at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon with the Rev. I.B. Morgan, of Greensburg, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in charge of C.F. Fix & Son, funeral directors.

The entire family has the sympathy of a large number of friends, for Mrs. Scudder was well known throughout the community. Ten of the children surviving her are living at home. They range in age from five months to twenty-five years.

Born in Decatur county April 12, 1888, Mrs. Scudder was forty-four years, ten months and five days of age at the time of death She was the daughter of Lancy and Mary (Owen) sic Owings Dewey. On Dec. 6, 1906, she was united in marriage to Mr. Scudder, who survives. The children are Lavern, Edwin, Mary Ann, Josephine, Mildred, John Jr., Betty Lou, Bobbie James, Jerry Eugene, Carrie Leland, all at home; Mrs. Robert Robertson, of Washington township; Mrs. Virgil Larkey, of Shelbyville; Charles Roscoe and Everett Ray, both of Shelbyville, and Paul Scudder Young, of Columbus, who has been reared by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Young, former residents of this city now living in Columbus.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren; four brothers, Clarence, Ezra, Chester and Ralph Dewey and six sisters, Mrs. Nellie Amidore and Mrs. Aurilla Amidore, all of Illinois; Mrs. Alice Sanderson and Miss Pearl Dewey, both of New Castle; Mrs. Eva Coy, of Decatur county and Mrs. Myrtle Staley, of Milan. Her father is living in Farmers City, Ill.

Friends may call at the Fix Mortuary at any time until 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
