MINDEN, LA—Mrs. [Aretta Giddens Alford] Newman, age 88, of Minden, LA, died July 13, 1997. Graveside services ... will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 1997 at the Old Minden Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath's Minden Chapel. Mrs. Newman was a resident of Minden for 55 years before moving to Glen Oaks Retirement Home in Shreveport. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Minden. Survivors include one son, Ronald Alford and wife, Marilyn of Sibley, La.; daughter, Kuma A. Powell and husband, Billy of Shreveport, LA; sister, Evora McAdams of Bossier City, LA; three granddaughters, Ronda Tillstrom and Donna Jones of Shreveport, LA, Maria Schober of Magnolia, AR, and five great-grandchildren....
