Apoplexy is Thought to be the Cause of His Sudden Taking Away

Albert Bender, one of our most highly respected citizens, dropped dead Tuesday afternoon about 5:00 o'clock while sitting in a chair in his front yard, apoplexy thought to be the cause.

He had not been feeling exactly well for a few days but was not at all serious, having worked in his garden in the morning, and thought nothing of the illness other than ordinary ailment that comes for a few days and then is gone. A few minutes before his untimely demise he went out in the yard in the cool as was his custom and sit down in a chair and was not long until the end came. It is likely he died instantly and fell from the chair dead.

Miss Alma Hovey, who lives near, saw him lying on the ground with his head down hill. She thought nothing of this as he often stretched out on the lawn to rest only his head being down hill, so she went on into the house and came out again soon and he was still lying in the same position and then she realized something was wrong and started to warn Mrs. Bender who just then came from the house and discovered the sad happenings and screamed at the top of her voice which alerted the citizens in the vicinity. A physician was summoned but it was all over with and nothing could be done.

His heart was in good condition and it is not supposed that was the cause. He was 66 years, 7 months and 3 days old. The funeral will be held Thursday and the remains laid to rest in the Armah cemetery.

The family have the sympathy of the community in this their sad bereavment.
