Agatha (Welder) Piatz, 76, died July 18, 2005, at a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 21, at the Church of the Ascension, Bismarck, with the Rev. Marvin Klemmer officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be from 11a.m. to 9 p.m. today Eastgate Funeral Service, where a vigil will be held at 7 p.m. that evening. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Agatha was born Jan. 16, 1929, in Logan County to Anton and Rosina (Feist) Welder. She received her education in Logan County. Agatha married Anton A. Piatz at St. Anthony Church, Oct. 25, 1948. They farmed for a few years south of Napoleon. She moved to Napoleon in 1965, where she worked at the nursing home. She also did daycare in her home, where those children became like her own. In 1976, she moved to Bismarck with her husband, where she worked at Missouri Slope Care Center until her retirement in 1994.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to be with them at holidays. She enjoyed playing pinochle with friends, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Agatha is survived by her husband of 56 years, Tony; four daughters, Alice (Jr.) Cruz, Ottowa, Ill., and Georgiana (Tony) Gross, Jolene (Gary) Fettig, and Paulette (Steve) Peterson, all of Bismarck; two sons, Tony Piatz and Francis (Kathy) Piatz, all of Bismarck; 19 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Doll and Teresa Doll, both of Napoleon; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Mike Welder and George Welder; and her step-sisters and brothers.
