Eugene Nading Scott

Shelbyville resident Eugene Nading Scott, 91, died Friday at Todd-Aikens Health Care Center in Franklin.

Born on March 6, 1907, in Bartholomew County, he was the son of John Thomas Scott and Mattie (Nading) Scott. On April 21, 1940, he married Margaret Ellen (Willard) Scott, who survives.

Mr. Scott was a farmer until 1940. He worked for Kennedy Carliner from 1942 to 1947; Chambers Range from 1947 to 1950; and Amos Molded Plastics from 1953 to 1974. He worked at Randolph's Hardware, Edinburgh, after his retirement in 1974. He also was a former caretaker at Miller Cemetery. He was a member of the Amity Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a charter member of the Marietta Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his wife, survivors include six sons, Donald Eugene Scott, Beech Grove, John R. Scott, Marietta, Glen Dale Scott, Prince's Lake, Robert Wayne Scott, Marietta, Marlin Edward Scott, Indianapolis, and Kevin Lee Scott, Franklin; a daughter, Kathryn Lavonne Kelley, Marietta; a brother, Virgil Scott, Franklin; a sister, Mrs. George (Mary Frances) Stipanovic, Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, one brother and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Ellis and Mr. David Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Shelby County.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
