Mary J. Oldham Ahearn

Mary J. Oldham was born in 1831 in Kentucky to Mr. and Mrs. J. Oldham.

Mary Oldham married John J Ahearn in Ohio and the couple moved to Belle Plain, Scott County, Minnesota. The family then moved to Section 12 of Millwood Township in 1866 where they farmed and raised their family.

In 1890, the Ahearns moved a few miles west to the city of Melrose, Minn. Their son, James Ahearn, continued to operate the family farm in Millwood Township.

Mary J and John J Ahearn had nine children (6 boys and 3 girls) that they raised on their homestead near Freeport, Minnesota. The children that lived to adulthood include:

- James Ahearn (1863-1943)
- Joseph Ahearn
- Peter Ahearn
- Katherine Ahearn (1866-1948)
- George Ahearn (1868-1944)
- Josephine Ahearn Stafford
- Anne Ahearn (1872-1931)

Mary J. Ahearn died February 14, 1914 and was buried February 16, 1914 in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Melrose, Minn. She is buried next to her husband, John J Ahearn, and several of her children are buried around her. Her marker simply anounces her earthly title of MOTHER.
