Added by Beverly: Daughter of Joseph Prescott born Chester NH and Lydia Worthen also born there. Almira died of heart disease/dropsy, widow of Joseph Huckins.

Bio by BL Hughes: Almira Prescott Huckins, wife of the late Joseph Huckins, died in Bridgewater July 15, 1909, of dropsy caused by heart disease.

She was born in Bridgewater May 5, 1810 and was 90 years, 2 months and 10 day of age.

Mrs. Huckins was the daughter of Joseph Prescott, who was a direct descendant in the fourth generation from James Prescott who came from Derby County, Lincolnshire, England in 1665, and settled in Hampton, N.H. She was the tenth child of a family of thirteen children and has always lived in Bridgewater. She was well informed regarding what was taking place in the outside world, although since the death of her husband, over twenty years ago, she has lived a very quiet life with an invalid daughter so it was necessary for her to be confined at home nearly all the time.

Her health has been good all her life until about one year since, when she commenced to fail fast and was confined to her chair until her death. Her mind was clear and bright and she could recall many incidents of her early life and seemed to enjoy being questioned regarding the history of her town and early friends.

She was a member of the M.E. Church in Plymouth for about 70 years and was always interested with anything connected with the church. She leaves three daughters, Mrs. W.D. Blaisdell of Plymouth; Mrs. D.B. Clement of Bridgewater; and Abbie W. of Bridgewater.

Funeral services were held at her late home, July 17, Rev. W.M. Cleveland officiating, with interment at Ashland cemetery.

She was an earnest temperance woman, having signed the pledge in girlhood, and kept it faithfully in word and deed, and never excused anyone from being an advocate of temperate principles.

Her father died November 26, 1861 aged 94 years, and her mother died April 25, 1852, aged 80 years. She is the last of the family, all her brothers and sisters having died before. The Plymouth Record, July 21, 1900, 29, p5.
