George Westlake

George Milton Westlake, 65, of Marysville, formerly of Broadway, died at home Sunday (Feb 8, 1998).

He was born Jan. 16, 1933 in Union County to Samuel Westlake and Mary (Hartshorn) Westlake. He was a lifelong Union County resident.

Mr. Westlake was a graduate of Broadway High School and a member of the former Broadway Community Church. He was retired after 25 years with Pittsburgh Plate Glass, Delaware, and formerly worked as a painter in Prospect. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3506 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 1651. He supported Broadway little League Baseball, was a coon hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed playing cards and pool.

He is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, Phyllis Eileen (Hamilton) Westlake; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Ed Douglas Robinson of Raymond, Jackie and Dennis Evans of Ridgeway, and Amy and Tim McKinney of Pittsburgh; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Greg and Gloria Westlake of Marion and Michael Westlake of North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Nikki and Chris Robinson, Jeremiah and Samantha Westlake, Megan and Dean Evans, Sam and Zack Westlake, and Morgan McKinney; two stepgrandchildren, Megan and Keegan McKinney, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Ron Chapman of Marysville and Phyllis and Willard Ferrell of Delaware; a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald "Bud" and Julia Westlake of Marysville; and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Hamilton of Marysville. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemary Shirk in 1997 and Judy Westlake in 1954.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Underwood Funeral Home, Marysville, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. James Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Broadway Cemetery.
