Mrs. Sappington was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary, both of Hoisington; also a member of Legion of Mary and Altar Society, and several ladies' bridge clubs.
Survivors include a son, Bob Sappington of Hoisington; a brother, Ambrose Wendel of Great Bend; a sister, Irene Harper of Othello, Wash.; two grandsons, Eric Robinson of Lincoln, Neb., and Jeff Sappington of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Christina Maher of Omaha, Neb., and Sara Lloyd of Corpus Christi, Texas; three great-grandsons, Luke Maher of Omaha, Neb., and Ben and Sean Lloyd of Corpus Christi, Texas; two great-granddaughters, Julieanne Jordan of Corpus Christi and Madison Maher of Omaha; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Peggy Sappington Harder, three brothers and three sisters.
A vigil service/altar society rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington, with Father Dwight Birket officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Barton County. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
