Hertha A. Vogel-Hildebrand, 98, of Davenport, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or the Visiting Nurses Association.

She was born March 10, 1906, in Davenport, the beloved daughter of Ludwig and Alma (Struck) Berg. She was united in marriage to Ernest F. Vogel in Rock Island in 1924. He preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 1942. She was later united in marriage to Raymond F. Hildebrand in Rushville, Ill. on Aug. 17, 1957. He preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 1969. Hertha was employed as a bookkeeper and accounts receivable clerk for Tri-City Wholesale Florist for 17 years. She was a charter member of the Bettendorf Senior Citizens, a life member of the Central Turner Hall, a member of the American Business Women's Association and the Davenport Moose. In addition, she was a member of the Friendly House Orchestra under the direction of her uncle, William Paarmann, and a member of the Mother's Singers, an organization of the Davenport School System. In her childhood years, Hertha spent many enjoyable days at Schuetzen Park in Davenport where her dad ran the shooting gallery and her mother was the cook.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Arlene Vogel-Phillips, Davenport, and Anita Kay; her daughter-in-law, Sandra Vogel, Bettendorf; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husbands, Hertha was preceded in death by her son, Edward R. Vogel on Sept. 24, 2004; her granddaughter, Michelle; her step-sons, Don and Jim Hildebrand; her sisters, Antoine, Marie, Thelka and Hulda; and her brother, Bernard.
