Amos Pence died at his home east of St Paris on Saturday, January 23, 1904, aged 81 years, 8 months and 1 day. His late illness was pneumonia and he suffered intensely. He was born May 22, 1822. He married Loretta Thomas on February 25, 1851, sister of Rev WR Thomas. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs Roney. His second marriage was to Clarinda Browning on June 28, 1854, they had six daughters and two sons. One son dying in infancy and one daughter died at the age of 37 years. The deceased leaves a widow, seven children, eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and three sisters. The funeral services were held Tuesday at Myrtle Tree Church, conducted by Rev Mathews.
