IRA FRANKLIN CANTRELL
Ira Franklin Cantrell of Hilgard died Sunday, Oct 28, at a local nursing home following an extended illness. The retired railroad boilermaker and rancher was 85.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov 1, at 2 p.m. at Dempsey's Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Paul O. Jewell officiating. Burial will be at Hilgard Cemetery.
Cantrell was born at Five Points Creek, Hilgard, Feb 21, 1890, the son of William Porter and Olive Cantrell. He was a liftime resident of Hilgard and attended school there. He married Bonnie M Munn, April 29, 1910 at Walla Walla. Cantrell was a lifetime member of the Knights of Pythias.
Survivors include his widow, Bonnie M of Hilgard; one son, Howard of Hilgard; two daughters, Mrs. Ellis (LaWanda) Scott, LaGrande, and Mrs. Janice Mylander, Denver; one sister, Mrs. Elsie Linnell, Portland; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and other relatives. He was preceded in death by a son, Harold, in 1958.
