Born Aug. 27, 1906, in Sikeston, daughter of the late Jesse P. and Mary Etta Holland Weekley, she lived in Sikeston and Scott counties most of her life. She retired as a supervisor for the International Shoe Company and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston.
On Aug. 27, 1926, she married Charles R. Bethune Sr., who preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1972.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Byron Moxley; one daughter-in-law, Carole Bethune; one sister, Marie Yeakey; five grandchildren and their spouses, Linda and David Patton, Sally and Max Michael and Charles and Celeste Moxley, Charles Robert Bethune III, and Kaprice Bethune Swan; nine great-grandchildren, Sarah Michael Dovin, Shelby Michael Alexander, Robert Michael, Jeff Patton and Greg Patton, Elizabeth Anne Moxley and Stephen J. Moxley and Heather Swan and Josh Swan; and four great-great-grandchildren, Catie Dovin and Camille Dovin, Claire Alexander and Abigail Michael.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Charles Robert Bethune Jr.; three brothers, Clarence Weekley, Russell Weekley and Walter Weekley; and one sister, Martha Weekley Baker.
Visitation was held at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where services were scheduled. The Rev. Harold O. Norton, director of Senior Adult Ministries of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, officiated.
Pallbearers were: Robert Michael, Greg Patton, Jeff Patton, Stephen J. Moxley, Bruce Dovin and Rick Alexander.
