Ernest L. Colwell
CHILLICOTHE, ill., Dec 26. (Special)—Ernest LeRoy Colwell, 75, died at 2 p. m. Dec. 24 in St. Francis hospital in Peoria.
He was born Oct. 23, 1871 at Wyoming, Ill., a son of George and Serepetia Moats Colwell, and was married to Etta Strong on Feb. 22, 1905 at Wyoming.
The past 15 years Mr. Colwell had been caretaker at Judge Glen Cameron's estate near Henry. Also, he managed the coal mine at Crow Creek, between Chillicothe and Henry.
Mr. Colwell had attended the Methodist church at Chillicothe.
He is survived by his widow and three sons, Harold and Virgil of Chillicothe and Corp. Bethal Colwell somewhere in France; three daughters, Mrs. Pauline Beck of Henry, Mrs. Helen Costin of Toulon and Miss Irma Colwell of Chillicothe; four brothers Abe and Loren Colwell of Michigan, Marion of Henry and Frank of Peoria; two sisters, Mrs. Rene Tracey of Princeville and Mrs. Clara DeLong of Wyoming, and seven grandchildren. One son, one grandchild, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Wednesday from the Methodist church at Wyoming. Burial will be in Wyoming City cemetery. The Weber Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
