Iro P. Medford

Canton - Iro Perry Medford, age 85, of Birch Street, died Saturday, June 15, 2003, at his residence.

He was a native and life long resident of Haywood County and was the son of the late Cephus E. and Mary Walls Medford. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda Smathers Medford, who died in 1991 and his second wife, Willodean Reynolds Medford, who died in 1996 and also an infant son, Phillip Medford.

He retired from Champion International. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre, and he was a friend to all.

He is survived by a sister, Mary Thompson and a brother, Lewin Medford both of Canton and a stepdaughter, Gail Johnson of Asheville.

The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Perry Hines officiating. Entombment will follow at The Horizon Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
