He graduated from Traverse City High School in 1952, and was the owner of TriGas of Benzie. An avid sports enthusiast, he was a four-time club champion at Crystal Lake Golf Club and was an original member of Benzie Slo-Pitch. He was a former board member of Crystal Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, a former officer of the Beulah-Benzonia Business Association and a benefactor of many local organizations and charters. He was a true nature enthusiast. Born April 22, 1934, in Petoskey, he was the son of Leon Noel and Esther Mae Overholt On Dec. 9, 1983, in Beulah, he married the former Marilyn
Schneider, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Steve Holley of Traverse City, Bonnie L. Overholt of Clare, Craig Overholt of Benzonia and Kendra Overholt of Kalamazoo; his mother, Esther
Mae, of Traverse City; two brothers, Jerry Overholt of Traverse City and Robert Overholt of Ludington; one aunt, Thelma Ostrander of Dearborn; one granddaughter, Samantha Overholt; and many nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Leon. Services were held Oct. 8 at the Bennett-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Beulah. Burial will be in Benzonia Township Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Benzie County Animal Wel-fare League.
