The Wellington Leader October 28, 1965

J. T. Baldwin, a retired farmer who had lived in Wellington for 40 years, died in St. Joseph's Hospital Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. He had been in failing health for a number of years. Mr. Baldwin was 86 years old.

A native Texan, James Thomas Baldwin was born May 29, 1879, at Teneha, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Franklin Baldwin. Before coming here, Mr. Baldwin made his home for a number of years at Clarendon.

He was married to Miss Alice Strickland in 1910, and she died in March, 1920. On Jan. 25, 1925, he was married to Mrs. Betty Slough at Clarendon, and later that same year the couple and their family moved to Wellington. Mr. Baldwin had been a member of the Baptist Church since he was 14.

Survivors are his wife; two sons and three daughters, Ben Baldwin of Lubbock; Joe Baldwin of Wichita Falls; Mrs. Gladys Meek of Pampa; Mrs. Julia VanBebber of Dumas and Mrs. Mildred Butler of Clemson, S.C. A brother and sister also survive, Charles Baldwin of Lamesa and Mrs. Emma Thorton of Waxahaehie. There are six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
