Karl John was involved in the family furniture business for many years. He was in partnership in uranium mining near Landen, Wyoming and also owned a marina in the Alexandria area. Karl John was an avid hunter and fisherman and worked as a fishing guide during the summer.
Karl John died at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, March 3, 1994. He is survived by his wife Ruth of Alexandria; his children: Karlene and husband Gary N. Ophaug of Edina; Mary and husband Gayle L. Draxten of Duluth; Carol and husband Thomas Krenz of Alexandria; Linda Anderson of Bakersfield, CA; Carl V. Anderson of Alexandria; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
Funeral service was held at Calvary Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Marcy 7, 1994 with Rev. Keith Forrester officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Kristin Beach and son Justin, Suzanne Draxten, Amy Ophaug, Jennifer Draxten and Molly Ophaus.
Pallbearers were Carl V. Anderson, Andrew Anderson, Todd Krenz, Gary N. Ophaug, Gayle L. Draxten, Thomas Krenz and John Beach. Interment was at Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria. Services were directed by Petermeier's Alexandria Funeral Home.
