Carl Vincent (Butch) Anderson was born April 25, 1952 in Alexandria, MN, the son of Karl J. and Ruth E. (Hanson) Anderson. After graduating from Jefferson High School, Butch worked at Herb Schildt Transmissions and Alex Marine as a mechanic for many years and also at Johnson Furs. He spent time taking care of his parents and their property as they aged. Following their deaths, Butch moved to Milbank, SD to enjoy the hunting and fishing in that area. He worked at several places including Curt's Auto and Sport Center, Inc. and retired from the Pine River Golf Course where he was a mechanic and groundskeeper. After retirement Butch did occasional mechanic work for friends including fixing boat motors and lawn mowers.
Butch lived a full life. Among the things he held close to his heart were his faith, family- including his dogs, friends, and the great outdoors. He enjoyed reading, studied the bible, and prayed regularly. Butch was rarely without a faithful companion. He adored his dogs and was a master at training both obedience and bird hunting. He was an avid fisherman and knew the best places on several of the Alexandria area lakes. He also enjoyed hunting pheasant and sharptail grouse and was a longtime member of the NRA.
Carl died at home unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents; and closest companion, Sophie. Carl is survived by his sisters, Karlene (Gary) Ophaug of Edina, MN, Mary (Gayle) Draxten, of Duluth, MN, Carol Krenz of Alexandria, and Linda Anderson of Bakersfield, CA; brother-in-law. Tom Krenz of Alexandria; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and his faithful dog, Miss Jay.
