Mrs. Carrie Slates, 91, of Rt. 3, Carrollton (Kilgore), died Monday in Carroll County Hospital after a long illness. She had been a patient in the hospital for a month. A life resident of Loudon Township, she was born there February 18, 1881, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Seaton) Phillips. She was a member of Kilgore United Methodist Church, the Missionary Society and WSCS of the church. Her husband, Lewis Slates, to whom she was married October 7, 1902, preceded her in death October 19, 1955.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Scott of the home and Mrs. Charles (Josephine) Barnes of Bountiful, Utah; one sister, Mrs. Monica Scott of Akron and two grandchildren. Ohio brother and four sisters are deceased. Services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Allmon-Dugger Funeral Home with rev. Charles McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Kilgore Cemetery.
