Samuel Jr. was the son of Samuel Tipton and Mary A. Schultz. In 1827 in Kentucky, he married Sarah Lynch. They had the following children in order of birth: Elizabeth, William H., John Talbot, Mary F., Sarah Ann Elizabeth, Harrison, Samuel III, James, Zachariah, and Richard. From 1846 until the Civil War, Samuel resided in Shuyler County, Missouri, but the first year of the Rebellion, was taken prisoner by the Union Army. He served in Co H, 5 Missouri Infantry, Confederate, as a private. He died in the POW camp at Fort Delaware and was buried in trenches across the bay in New Jersey.

Hi,
I noticed your list of the children of Samuel & Sarah (Lynch) Tipton. They had a total of 9 children. Their son Richard Harrison Tipton is not two different sons. I have a copy of his "will" and at times he listed his name a "Richard" or as "Harrison" Tipton. His daughter's death record shows his name as Richard but other documents list the name Harrison.

Below is what you listed.
They had the following children in order of birth: Elizabeth, William H., John Talbot, Mary F., Sarah Ann Elizabeth, Harrison, Samuel III, James, Zachariah, and Richard.
