Samuel(husband), occupation: blacksmith, was arrested as a citizen by the Union in August 1862 for making knives and swords for the Confederacy. He was imprisoned and never heard from again by his family.
After her husband's death, Sarah moved to Blacksburg, Wapello Co., Iowa (1870), Little Rock, Randolph Co., Arkansas (1880), Urbana, Monroe Co., Iowa (1885) and finally to Plattsmouth, Cass Co., Nebraska. Obituary states Sarah was living with her daughter Mary Frances (Tipton)and son-in-law Henry Clay Grimes at the corner of Main and 13th Street, Plattsmouth, Cass Co., Nebraska.

DEATH OF OLD AGE
Mrs. Sarah A Tipton died at 2:10
o’clock this afternoon at the residence
of her daughter, Mrs. H. C. Grimes,
corner of Main and Thirteenth Street
of old age. Mrs. Tipton was born
March 4th, 1805, being in her 89th year.
She was the mother of nine children,
Seven of whom survive her. James
Tipton and Mrs. Grimes were the only
ones residing here.
The funeral will take place from the
residence of H. C. Grimes at 2 o’clock
tomorrow afternoon. All the friends
are invited.
