History of St. Clair Co., 1883: James Weeks was a pioneer, who moved with his wife, Amy Garrison Weeks, and 13 children to Michigan from New York in 1834, probably by way of the recently opened Erie Canal which expedited the settlement of the "western" states. He listed his occupation as "farmer" on every US census through 1860, when he was 84. He was born on the auspicious day of July 4, 1776 and lived 87 years. His descendants live in Michigan today.
