SENECA KENYON was born on the old Kenyon place in China Township, October 25th, 1857, and is the son of Myron and Catherine (Stewart, widow White) Kenyon, pioneers of the county. Seneca was educated in the schools of China township until age sixteen when he began to follow the early occupation of this father, that of a sailor until age twenty-one. He married Elizabeth Recor in 1876 and they had four children: Grace V., Almond Bruce, Leona Agnes, Cecelia Blanche. He took up farming in 1878 but returned to sailing in 1886 which he continued for eleven years.
His 2nd wife, Grace Darling Hodgson is the daughter of Henry Edwin Hodgson and Martha Cooke, both of Liverpool, England. Her father was an engineer in St. Clair. Seneca and Grace married in December 13, 1897 and had 7 children: Catherine D., Harriet M. Infant, Alma M., Seneca Myron, Bernice L., Howard P., Ralph H.
SENECA was Treasurer of the King School District for 17 years until he moved into the City of St. Clair. A Republican and member of Parma Blue Lodge #9 F. & A. M. of St. Clair. Had an interest in the "Allegany Belle" in 1890, which was owned by the Kenyon and Chamberlain families.
