Was On a Visit to Daughter In Reno When the End Came
"Mrs. Leander Ellis, for many years a resident of Geyserville, died In Reno, Nevada, Thursday of last week, while on a visit to her youngest. child, Mrs. Dot McGoffin Mrs. Ellis went to Reno a short time ago, and was in good health at the time. She contracted grip, which developed into pneumonia. She was taken to a hospital to receive the best of attention, but she died within a few days.
Mrs. Ellis was born in Missouri, and was seventy-two years of age. She came to Sonoma county when about twelve years of age, and all her life since had been passed in this community. She became the wife of Leander Ellis when seventeen years of age. For a year they lived in Alexander Valley, and then moved to the place that had been their home for more than fifty years. Mr. Ellis died about nine years ago. Mrs. Ellis was the last of a family of nine brother; and sisters. The funeral was held Sunday, the services being conducted by E. B. Ware, an old friend. The Christian Church at Geyserville, was crowded with friends, and many were unable to gain admission.
The body was brought to Healdsburg and buried beside that of her husband in Oak Mound cemetery. The following sons and daughters are living: John Arthur Ellis of Geyserville, Rose Shively of Reno, Nevada, Laura Harlan of Oakland, Leona Fay and Gilbert Ellis (twins) of Geyserville, Carroll Ellis, Camp Fremont, Ethel Spittler of San Bernardino, Dot McGoffin of Reno
