Rex Eugene Hayes, 53, of Springdale died April 7, 1988, at Springdale Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 2, 1934, in Whitener, the son of Carl Raymond and Maggie P. Boyd Hayes. He was retired from the U.S. Navy with 24 years of service, a Baptist, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a service technician at Sears for 13 years.
Survivors include his mother, Maggie Hayes of Huntsville; his wife, Bette Lou Hayes of the home; three sons, Robert E. Hayes of Roselle, Ill., Richard E. Hayes of Virginia Beach, Va., and Randy G. Hayes of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Steven (Catherine) Adams of Kingsland, Ga., Cheryl Hayes of San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Charles (Christi) Meeks of Portsmouth, N.H., and Donna J. Hayes of the home; two brothers, Raymond R. Hayes of Rogers and George D. Hayes of Rota, Spain; and four grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, April 9, at Sisco Chapel of Springdale with burial in Buckeye Cemetery.
