Bordentown Register, March 4, 1881, page 3, column 1:

Daniel Bumpster, who lived at the Three Mile Lock and was employed by the R.R. Co. as track-walker, was struck by a locomotive last Monday and died shortly after in St. Francis Hospital, Trenton. The accident occurred on the grade going into the Trenton depot, where the deceased was clearing mud from a gutter. He leaves a wife and 5 helpless children. The body was interred in this city on Wednesday.

FATALLY INJURED-- Yesterday a track walker on the Amboy Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad, named David Bumster, while fixing a a washout near McGory's junkhouse, on the grade above Clinton Steet station, was struck by Engine No. 699, attached to train No. 320, and fatally injured. A shovel with which he was working was broken and embedded in the skull. He was taken to Clinton street depot, where Dr. Coleman attended him and pronounced the injuries fatal. He was removed to St. Francis Hospital, where, according to a report last evening, he died during the afternoon. The deceased resided at the three-mile turnout, and leaves a wife and several children to mourn his loss.
