Harris Lester Karns III
Funeral for Harris Lester Karns III, 78, of Cleveland will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Dr. Johnny Damon, pastor of Fredonia Hill Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Karns died Feb. 20, 2001, in Conroe.
Born April 12, 1922, in Indiana, he was the son of Harris Lester Karns II and Abby Parsons Karns. He was a retired meteorologist with the National Weather Service and was a retired major in the U.S. Air Force, having served in World II. He was affiliated with First United Methodist Church of Cleveland. He was married to Royaleen Stephens-Lewis Karns, and she died Feb. 11, 2000.
Survivors include sons, Harris Lester Karns IV, and wife, Marie, of Houston, and Royal Lewis and wife, Diane, of Lancaster, Calif.; daughters, Elizabeth "Libby" Karns of South Bend, Ind., Carole Bradshaw and husband, Billy, of Nacogdoches, Linda Odom and husband, Monty, of Cleveland, and Suzanne Cagle and husband, Steve, of Conroe; a sister, Ruth Swartz and husband, Ed, of Fort Wales, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4848 N.E. Stallings Drive, Suite 107, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961.
